My Take on Space Burial

I’m excited to announce that I have a flash fiction published on 365 Tomorrows! It will be up on the front page today (10/3/21) and then available in the archive after that.

As a pastor, I’ve done my fair share of funerals. I’ve grown frustrated with the amount of money tied to a burial. I often say over a gravesite, the traditional words from the Bible, “from dust you came, to dust you shall return.” Yet, thousands of dollars are spent to prevent this very thing, from vaults to caskets to embalming. I think all of this is fine, if you want it, (and some of it is required by law) but I believe there is something equally beautiful to the idea of returning to the dirt. This idea launched this short, 600 word, flash story.
