 FAQs

  • The key difference between coaching and consulting lies in their approach to problem-solving and the role each plays in the client's journey.

In consulting, the consultant is an expert who is brought in to analyze a situation, provide solutions, and often guide the client in implementing these solutions. The consultant typically takes an active role in diagnosing problems and prescribing specific strategies or actions to solve them. In this scenario, the consultant's expertise is central, and the client relies on their knowledge to achieve the desired outcomes. If you go with consulting, we will provide full-service, wrap around services for your project. This is especially helpful for small, grassroots organizations that don't have the staff needed to do this on their own.

In coaching, on the other hand, the coach takes on more of a facilitative role, helping the client unlock their own potential. Rather than providing direct solutions, a coach asks thought-provoking questions, listens deeply, and encourages self-reflection. The aim is to empower the client to explore their own ideas, gain clarity, and arrive at solutions themselves. The coach acts as a guide rather than an expert, fostering personal growth and problem-solving through self-discovery.

In summary, consulting provides answers, while coaching draws out answers from the client.

  • When we work with an organization, we provide graphic design, administrative processes, coaching, strategy, fundraising, demographic research, and anything else needed to meet the organization's goal. In most cases, we provide training so the organization can implement and manage the resources moving forward.

  • Both! In fact, I remain convinced that there is much to learn from each other. It's only when churches take what make nonprofit great and nonprofits learn from churches that we able to do the greatest good. It's the intersection of churches and non-profits that we find the goodness of God multiplied.

  • This depends entirely on what you're looking for. We try to provide full-service, wrap-around consulting to around 3-4 organizations each year, and on average we charge $500 a month for a minimum of 6 months. For smaller projects, advice, or coaching, we can create a package that meets your needs.

Our Values

Inclusion: We believe that everyone is a beloved child of God. This includes: people of every age, race, ethnicity, physical & mental capability, sexual orientation, gender identity, social & economic status, family configuration, religious affiliation, background, & any other distinguishing quality. We work hard to ensure our processes respect every person’s individuality and gifts.

Anti-Racists: As Christians committed to loving our neighbors, the pursuit of justice, and the importance of rejecting evil “in whatever forms they present themselves”, we condemn racism and the racist policies that plague our nation. We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion for all and work hard with partners to ensure our processes keep in mind the diverse expressions of faith and social engagement found amongst people of faith.

Faith-Based, Doubt-Friendly: While we are unashamedly faith-based, we welcome questions and doubts and those from all walks of life and creeds. We value being a safe place—no matter where you are on your spiritual journey. We don’t limit our services to faith-based organizations or churches, but anyone who is willing to do their part in making the world a better place.

“Pastor Joe Graves is a selfless man with a heart posture of sacrifice and servitude. Joe has rallied his congregation to support the mission of Mothers Of Murdered Columbus Children, has volunteered as a consultant for the Initiative Operation Under Triple Digits, and has been gracious with giving financial support. The operations of programming would not have been possible without his expertise.”

Malissa Thomas St. Clair, Co-Founder of Mothers of Murdered Columbus Children.

Joe has not only given us a road map to launch a new community, but to also relaunch an existing one.  He speaks not just from theory, but from experience.  He has been down in the trenches!”

Rev. Bob Baugher, Redeemer United Methodist Church & The Gathering

Joe Graves has been coaching us through our merger of 3 churches for 4 months and without his help we would not have had a solid process, empathy for all parties, smooth transitions and every facet of our merger already thought-through, walked-through and the way smoothed for us as we step into this new endeavor.”
